Sock Heel Techniques – Tomato Heel

Sock Heel Techniques is a workshop that meets every month at Michigan Fibre Studio. Learn new ways to knit heels. The techniques will be taught using worsted weight yarn and larger needles. Once the techniques have been mastered you will be ready to tackle the sock in sock weight yarn.

Prerequisites: Must be an intermediate knitter, comfortable with casting on, knit and purl stitches, increases and decreases, binding off, and have previous sock knitting experience.


II. Tomato Heel – Instead of two wedges this heel uses three, resulting in gently sloping sides.

Techniques taught – Tomato Heel

Meets – Thursday, May 4 from 7 – 9 pm or
Saturday, May 6 from 10 – noon.

III. Fish Lips Kiss Heel – “no wraps, no gaps, no maths!”

Techniques taught – Fish Lips Kiss Heel

Meets – Thursday, June 1 from 7 – 9 pm or
Saturday, June 3 from 10 – noon.

IV. Teardrop Heel Socks – a heel technique that maintains the stripe sequence of self – striping yarn.

Techniques taught – Teardrop Heel

Meets – Thursday, July 6 from 7 – 9 pm or
Saturday, July 8 from 10 – noon.

Cost: Take any or all of the workshops!

 $20.00 per workshop.

 Sign up for all four by April 6 and cost is $60.00.

Homework: There may be homework to do prior to each workshop that you will receive when you sign up for the workshop.

Payment is due upon time of registration. Class fee is not refundable unless cancellation is made 72 hours before the class start time. Classes with fewer than four students may be canceled or rescheduled for insufficient registration. Unless otherwise indicated, our classes are for students 16 years of age or older. Your registration is valid for the dates listed in the description and may not be transferred to other class dates.
Be sure to come to the studio early enough to have your supplies purchased and your yarn wound into balls before the start of class. Purchasing supplies from Michigan Fibre Studio supports your LYS and enables us to continue bringing in teachers for your continued fiber education.
