Sock Club is a workshop that meets every other month at Michigan Fibre Studio. Learn new ways to cast on and bind off, different heel techniques, intarsia in the round, vertical stranding, helix knitting and other creative ways to knit socks! Each workshop will feature a different sock pattern and teach the unique techniques that the pattern uses. The techniques will be taught using worsted weight yarn and larger needles. Once the techniques have been mastered you will be ready to tackle the sock in sock weight yarn.
Prerequisites: Must be an intermediate knitter, comfortable with casting on, knit and purl stitches, increases and decreases, binding off, and have previous sock knitting experience.
Techniques taught – Channel Island Cast On
Garter Stitch Heel Flap with slipped stitch edging
Meets – Thursday, March 16 from 7 – 9 pm.
Saturday, March 18 from 10 – noon.
Materials: To be purchased at Michigan Fibre Studio 20% disc
Two skeins of worsted weight yarn – one light color and one dark.
US 8 32 inch circular needle if using Magic Loop.
US 8 double pointed needles.

Homework: There will be homework to do prior to each workshop that you will receive one week before class. Don’t delay in signing up!

Classes with fewer than four students may be canceled or rescheduled for insufficient registration. Unless otherwise indicated, our classes are for students 16 years of age or older. Your registration is valid for the dates listed in the description and may not be transferred to other class dates.
Be sure to come to the studio early enough to have your supplies purchased and your yarn wound into balls before the start of class. Purchasing supplies from Michigan Fibre Studio supports your LYS and enables us to continue bringing in teachers for your continued fiber education.
