Join us for a Brioche Along!
The Brioche Stitch is a reversible pattern that creates a thick, lofty, stretchy fabric, that appears similar to a 1×1 rib.
We will be using 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn. High contrast or low contrast. Your choice. A few of us have decided to do a fade of 3 colors for the main color.
Need yarn? We got that! Need help picking out colors? We can help! Have that special skein of indie dyed yarn that needs a buddy? We’d love to help with that too!
Knit along times are on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings during our social knitting.
We have a couple of patterns picked out but you can certainly find your own!
We will be making a two color brioche cowl in the round. In the round helps you recognize your brioche stitches (brk and brp) because one color will always be knit (brk) and one color will always be purled (brp). After you’ve mastered Brioche in the Round, you will be ready for a Next Steps class that teaches you flat Brioche knitting and then on to increases and decreases!
Here are a few suggestions on patterns to follow. I suggest looking at the finished dimensions to find the pattern that is right for you.
These are a few free patterns:
These are pay patterns that are available as an in-store purchase:
Crocheters! We did not forget about you!
Although we would love to see you at the group sessions, you can participate from anywhere! This KAL is free to participate in, but as with all classes, KALs/CALs/WALs, you must use yarns purchased from our store to join. Purchasing supplies and patterns supports designers and your LYS.
For those that need help:
There will be help available during KAL times. As always, we are happy to help with quick questions. This is not a structured class so if you are finding that you may need a little extra help and attention, let us know and we can schedule a quick private lesson with you!
Need a little incentive to complete your brioche cowl?
KAL dates are Saturday, June 2 through Saturday, June 30.
Show us your completed project by Saturday, July 7 (one of the yarns must be purchased from Michigan Fibre Studio) to be eligible for a DRAWING for a FREE skein of YARN! 🧶
