Colour Play – a Mini Workshop in Color Theory

February 10, 2018 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Michigan Fibre Studio
1503 Lake Dr SE
Grand Rapids, MI 49506

SweetGeorgia is all about passionate, relentless, and unapologetic color. But over the years we’ve found that people really want to enjoy color but they are still hesitant to try because they are worried about making the wrong color choices. Knitting takes a big investment of time, money, and energy, so there is added pressure to choose the “right” colors.
This video-based in-store workshop will walk you through the basics of working with color and help you feel more confident about creating your own palettes and color combinations for your projects. We will play and combine different colors based on a variety of inspirations and then find different ways to knit them together to produce completely unique results.
Prerequisites: Student must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off
Skills Taught: Learn to combine colors in different ways to create your own personal palette for a project.
Dates: Saturday, February 10 from Noon to 3p
Cost: $30.00
Provided in class:
• Yarn! Each participant gets a palette of 15 yarn bobbins (approx 20 yards each) of color to play with in SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock
• “Colour Play” PDF Workbook with examples, notes, and space for students to make notes in
To bring to class:
• Bring your own knitting needles to knit a range of gauges, perhaps an interchangeable set would be a good idea (need needle sizes between about US 4 to US 11 (3.5 mm to 8 mm), depending on how many strands of Tough Love are held together)
• Notebook and pen to create palettes and make notes about observations
• Scissors
